Malarian Principalities

Colonizers moved to the Malarian Isles in the second great wave of the Age of Settlement. Their histories changed forever when the Druid orders were founded, soon after the initial settlement, and the Malarian Isles became centers of learning and religious authority, beacons of civilization during a dark and chaotic time.

Eventually the druids came to fight among themselves, escalating into open warfare during the Wars of the Grove. Master druids gathered vast fleets and armies of religiously inspired warriors to battle over sacred trees and springs. Peace wasn’t restored until the Treaty of Three Oaks, in elf year 4097, and the glory years of the Malarian Isles were over. By then the Druids had been scattered across the continent and few were willing to take orders from the Isles.

In elf year 4351 the Isles, threatened by the aggressive Karimite dynasty of the Jeraldic Empire, joined together to form the Malarian Confederation. The Confederation defeated the Empire’s invasion fleet, and the Malarians enjoyed a brief resurgence on the world stage, but after their invasion of Urundal ended in fiasco (4367) they accepted their status as a minor power.
