Gnomes

The Gawn name for Gnome is Alddac or “baby thief.” Almost all gnomes they meet are changelings, switched with human infants; the motivation behind these efforts remains a mystery. In any event, the true nature of these changelings only gradually becomes apparent, as a combination of slow physical growth and extremely rapid learning clearly distinguishes them from ordinary children. Those that aren’t killed are fully mature at age 10 or 11, usually living on their own, away from the human society that scorns them.

Gnomes are not Kinder. They aren’t gadgeteers and tend to live on the margins of human society. Some of them will join together in small bands, and occasionally they raise children together. Nevertheless, unlike gnomes in other D&D games, they do not have their own distinct language, and instead they speak the language of nearby human communities. They also worship human gods, leaning more towards the chaotic and anti-social deities such as Rhain the Archer or even Nularn, the Devil himself.
